Towson Tigers 4 Tigers

Protecting the future of our mascot.

Our Chapter

Tigers for Tigers is a national student-led group working towards tiger conservation. We feel that our students and the general public are very unaware of the fate that tigers face in the wild and in captivity. There are estimated to be as few as 3,200 tigers left in the wild compared to just a century ago of 100,000 tigers. That's a 97% decrease in the tiger population! As tiger mascot students, we find this unacceptable and we are determined to not go down without a fight.

joint work with t4t-rit

During the spring of 2015, RIT sent their cross-country girls on a 1400 mile run from Alabama back to New York, to build awareness for tiger endangerment. Towson T4T was one of their pit stops along the way!

Tiger awareness week

Every fall, all of the T4T clubs across the nation come together to celebrate tigers. Multiple events ensue on this week, but our most popular is our coordinated Tiger Skit.

Club enrichment

Each and every member of T4T is a valuable contributor to our cause and we always reward our members with many fun activities. We consider you a part of our tiger family from the moment we meet you.

Campus Involvement

Our club is focused on tiger conservation, however, we are also a group of passionate animal advocates and like to stay involved in our campus community.

wHat do we do?

While we are often spreading awareness for tigers and participating in Tiger Awareness Week we also participate in many campus events. As a club we like to always participate in The Big Event, a day of community service. Each semester we go to Rude Ranch Animal Rescue to help with chores, cleaning and maintenance. We also write letters to our government officials concerning issues like wildlife trafficking, big cat welfare and endangered animal protection.

We also like to do fun things as a club like trips to the zoo, movie nights and trips to a corn maze in the fall!

Cubs 4 Cubs

Last year we were able to go to West Towson Elementary and participate in their "Big Cat Day Assembly". The 3rd graders had learned  lot about big cats and put on a wonderful assembly about their movement. We met with the 3rd grade class and shared with them big cats facts and ways to help big cats in the wild! The students were able to submit short essays about their favorite big cat, 3 of which were chosen by our club to receive awards (even the President of Towson, Mrs. Kim Schatzel signed them!) It was a wonderful event and we can't wait to return to West Towson again.

partnership with the national wildlife refuge association

Tigers for Tigers has close connections with National Wildlife Refuge Association (NWRA). The NWRA works to conserve the ecological integrity of our National Wildlife Refuges through policy, landscape-scale conservation efforts, grassroots development, and public education.

The NWRA keeps clubs informed on current news a bills regarding wildlife and tiger conservation. They also offer summer internships to our members in their national wildlife refuges across the country.

There are 56 tiger mascot schools. So far 8 of them are part of the coalition!

There is a lot of opportunity for growth in the Coalition because there are 56 tiger mascot colleges and universities. So far, we have eight strong schools making a solid foundation for rapid growth in the future.
